Working on my vintage look

So I love the vintage 1940s/50s look as well as the Rockabilly look and lately I have been crossing them over. Like last night I attended a Lindy hop dance here in Toronto and it was a "vintage theme" so dressing up was in order. Well in order in my world (I dress up wherever I go if possible). I decided to wear a fav brand of mine a "Trashy Diva" dress (which was very 1940s) and pair it with a mix of Rockabillly hair meets 1940s fake victory rolls (thanks for the tutorial Cherry Dollface). It was a minor success. My barrel roll still needs work (like hide the bobby pin) but it was not bad and I got lots of compliments on it. Practice makes perfect right? :) Well I hope to get the barrel roll down by Friday as I'm attending an event called "fake prom" here in Toronto and I'm wearing this cute 1950s dress and so the hair has to be perfect! Stay tuned.

The Band Lineup for VLV has been announced! I'm beyond excited for Little Richard and Si Cranston...but what is even more awesome...Toronto's own Tennessee Voodoo Coupe is one of the bands...amazing!! (Tennessee Voodoo Coupe band website )

Million dollar quartet

So last Wednesday my hubby and I headed out for date night to go see the Million Dollar Quartet here in Toronto. For those who don't know what this is, it's about one day in Memphis TN Dec 4th 1956 when Elvis Presley, Carl Perkins, Johnny Cash and Jerry Lee Lewis got together at the famous Sun Studios for a jam session that went down in history. The play was a high level overview of that day and it was awesome!! We loved every minute of it and I nearly danced my seat right off I was having so much fun lol!

What made it even better was the Saturday before I went to hear Rockabilly artist Eddie Clendening play at the Dominion on Queen and he plays Elvis in the show. Well that Sat after his show he brought the cast down to the bar and the surprised patrons aka me were treated to music by almost all of the performers from the show. I was in Rock n Roll heaven! Eddie even came over to talk to us afterwards. Amazing night! So needless to say it made the show on Wednesday that much more special.

That said I recommend going to this show AND going to Memphis and doing the Sun Studios Tour at some point in your life. You will not regret either. And on that note here is an outfit post of what I wore that night. A swing dress I purchased in Dublin and a teeny tiny store in a market.

I think it's time to start blogging again

It has been a very very very long time since I have blogged, mostly because I had no desire to do so (life was pretty normal, nothing too exciting to discuss at the time at least for a blog) but my life...especially my vintage lifestyle has truly picked up speed over the last year and half and I think it's time to start writing about it again. Especially since I don't see too many vintage blogs that focus on my lovely city of Toronto and all that it has to offer.

So with that note...I promise to document my life here in Toronto on a more regular basis. Outfit posts (pretty standard fare for a vintage blog), events I go to (I'm a lindy hopping, Rockabilly lover) so needless to say the events I attend are pretty cool and complete opposites of each other half the time. My challenges on getting the vintage look...just right (I'm still a baby in training), places I shop here in Toronto, some guests posts from my vintage loving friends here in the GTA (Greater Toronto Area) and whatever else comes to mind. So stay tuned it will be worth it...I promise!

Since I can't go to Vegas this year for "Viva Las Vegas", I am sending out a mission that all my Rockabilly friends, DO attend and tell me all about it. It is KILLING me that I can't see Chuck Berry live in Concert, take Jive lessons, see all the cool cars and the MUSIC ahhh the MUSIC. So please please go and rub it in on how much fun you had, while I was sitting at home with my CD player listening to Elvis, go around and around :P
